DAC development connects digital audio to the analogue signal that drives an earphone. A complete design includes more than a converter chip: the interface, clocking, power supply, output stage and firmware must work together.
Evaluate voltage, current capability and output impedance into the intended earphone load. A nominal impedance value does not describe every frequency, and more advertised power is not always the priority for sensitive IEMs.
Residual noise, channel balance at low listening levels and gain selection affect everyday usability. State the load, bandwidth and level when reporting distortion or noise figures.
Define host compatibility, supported audio formats, power consumption and connection behaviour. Validate the assembled device rather than treating a chip datasheet as the finished product specification.
